SUSTAINABILITY AT VIETSTOCK EXPO & FORUM 2023
We know sustainability is increasingly important to our attendees and exhibitors, as well as to our market as a whole. Running an exhibition like Vietstock Expo & Forum gives us lots of opportunities to improve our impacts environmentally, socially, and economically in our region. We want to make our event more responsible and play a role in helping our markets improve its own sustainability through connecting people with the networks and knowledge they want to help solve the big challenges in our sector.
We believe a sustainable event focusses on three key aims:
At Vietstock Expo & Forum 2023, we aim to accelerate sustainability and be able to run our event in an environmentally and socially responsible way whilst seeking to inspire sustainable development in the Livestock, Feed, Aquaculture industry for the region. We do this not only because our partners & attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve.
At Vietstock Expo & Forum 2023, we are pleased to introduce

As Exhibitor – During Vietstock Expo & Forum 2023, we aim to accelerate sustainability and be able to run our event in an environmentally and socially responsible way whilst seeking to inspire sustainable development in livestock and aquaculture across vertical markets in the region. We do this not only because more than 80% of our attendees tell us that they care that our events are run in a responsible manner, but because it is the right thing to do for our customers, colleagues, and the communities we serve. We would like to encourage you to join our sustainability efforts by completing the below 10 point-checklist. By working together, we can make the event more memorable, meet our audience’s expectations and reduce wasted time, resources, and costs.

03. Select energy-efficient, LED lighting and other equipment for your stand, and be sure to power down your equipment at the end of the day.
04. Reduce paper handouts by going digital and source recycled, sustainably certified paper options where printing is needed.
05. When purchasing promotional items, consider the amount you order, the environmental credentials of the materials they are made from, as well as whether they are useful giveaways that will be used long after the event is over.
06. Help to support the sustainability of the local area by using local suppliers and considering the sustainability credentials of the hotels you book.

As Visitor – At Vietstock Expo & Forum 2023, we are committed to running the events in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Here are some ways you can contribute to the sustainability of the event as visitors.
Reduce Carbon Footprint
» By making use of the public transport to and from the event.
» If you are traveling by plane, make sure to offset the flight. To help us to become a carbon-neutral event, you can purchase carbon offsets while registering for Viestock Expo & Forum 2023 to compensate for the emissions produced by your flight. These are designed to counterbalance unavoidable carbon footprint by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere in the world.
» Book a hotel in the proximity of the venue to reduce your environmental impact.
Go Digital
» Reduce your paper output by switching to digital alternatives such as the use of QR codes to save information about exhibiting companies and products.
» This year, Viestock Expo & Forum 2023 will use an e-badges system so you can download the app and access your badge, and just scan to enter the event.
Waste Reduction
» Beware of the waste you generate during the event (food packaging, plastic bottle). Reduce when possible and use the provided recycled wastebasket.
» Encourage to use reused cups or drinking water tumblers.

Compensate for the emissions from flight to the event – As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are implementing a range of initiatives to make the event more responsible, and we also want to help others in being more sustainable.
Our goal is to become a carbon-neutral event. To achieve this, we are reducing our carbon footprint by increasing efficiencies, powering the event with renewable electricity, and reducing the amount of waste generated.
While registering for Vietstock Expo & Forum 2023 you will be provided with the option to purchase carbon offsets to compensate for the emissions produced by your flight. Carbon offsets are schemes that are designed to counterbalance any unavoidable carbon footprint by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere in the world.
Through paying a carbon offset fee you help others reduce, remove or avoid emissions being generated. The projects supported include Amazonian Rainforest Conversation in Brazil, Household Biodigester Distribution in China, Domestic Energy Systems in India, Teak Afforestation in Mexico, American Grasslands Conservation in USA, and Reserve Preservation in Borneo. Learn more about these carbon offset projects at Informa.
These projects bring a whole host of other positive benefits, such as empowering communities and increasing their wellbeing, protecting ecosystems, creating jobs, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The price for the carbon offset is determined by the quantity of CO2 emissions that an aeroplane gives off per passenger for a given flight distance. This is calculated from a single journey distance, to then cover the carbon emissions produced by the full round trip. The calculation is based on average fuel consumption data for typical short, medium and long-haul flights. The fees for carbon offsets are determined based on the methodology established in Defra’s Environmental reporting guidelines and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting.
We partnered with Natural Capital Partners to ensure the support of certified and audited carbon offset projects around the world. All the projects supported are independently verified to assure emission reductions are occurring.
We are pleased to announce that as a part of our continued commitment to the sustainability of our event, this year we made the switch to 100% renewable electricity for our event. This resulted in our electricity use being carbon neutral, preventing the creation of 2,000 tons of CO2, and therefore significantly reducing our carbon impact.
Vietstock Expo & Forum 2023 is part of Informa Markets and the Informa Group. Sustainability at Informa focuses on the long-term impacts we have on customers, colleagues, the communities we work in, and the environment.
Many of our stakeholders are clearly telling us that sustainability (social, economic, and environmental) is something that is no longer nice to have but a necessary part of any event. We want to make sure we’re meeting those expectations and we believe that being sustainable is the right thing to do.
We also recognise that it’s not just about the way we produce our events and products but recognizing that we have a role to play in providing a space to work in partnership together with our markets to inspire the sustainable development of the industries we serve. This is an ongoing process for us and we’re looking for ideas of how we can improve.
