Abstract: African Swine Fever (ASF) is at present the main threat for the global swine industry. It is affecting more than 50 countries on 5 continents, presenting several different epidemiological scenarios.
In this presentation, we provide a summary of the current situation across continents and will identify the main gaps that allowed the virus to spread. We will review the best tools to stop the spread and protect farms including the importance of biosecurity, a good surveillance program, a specific contingency program and a rapid response for the control of the disease. The importance of Public and Private collaboration will be also highlighted.
Finally, the ASF vaccine status will be also reviewed together with the scientific advances in vaccine research and the results of different animal trials obtained in domestic pigs and wild boars as well as pilot vaccination programs for the future.
🔵 Plasma Biosafety & Efficient Pig Production – by Dr. Javier Polo – Senior Vice-President Research and Development at APC
Abstract: This presentation will review the biosafety of Spray Dried Plasma (SDP) as a safe ingredient with over 30 years of proven scientific research. The discussion will also explain the benefits of Spray Dried Porcine Plasma (SDPP) in nursery diets and in sows ‘diets (lactation and peripartum) and how assuring a great start is the best economical strategy to maximize margins in market conditions with high ingredient cost and reduced meat prices.
